Neon Abyss 2 Launches October 8 With New End Boss

Action roguelikeNeon Abyss 2 will officially leave early access and launch its full version on October 8.

The release timing was confirmed during the Tokyo Direct broadcast hosted by the PC Gaming Show, as reported by PC Gamer. The upcoming release builds upon the foundation of the 2020 original, which focused on rapid dungeon crawling and broad weapon customization, while adding major new encounters and cooperative options.

A Multi-Phase Final Boss

The primary addition arriving with the full release is an ultimate encounter against Theia, titled the God of Vanity. Gameplay footage shows Theia firing multi-colored eyebeams across the arena to challenge players at the end of their runs.

Developers describe the boss as an unsettling visual combination of fractured mirrors, sharp gemstones, and luminous neon energy. The encounter stretches across three distinct combat phases, with each phase incorporating disorienting sound effects and bright flashes intended to confuse the playable Agents.

Cooperative Play and Extra Modes

Multiplayer forms a substantial component of the sequel's design. Up to four people can team up online, combining distinct character powers and an extensive arsenal of firearms to clear rooms together.

Beyond standard combat, the broadcast revealed several side activities. Players will be able to take part in beach sports, shoot basketballs, and solve a tile-matching puzzle mode reminiscent of Bejeweled. The preview also highlighted a fishing minigame, demonstrating that reeling in a large catch grants 365 points.

The game remains in early access on Steam, where PC players can currently add the title to their wishlists ahead of the October 8 launch.
