OpenAI Unveils Always-On 'Dots' Agents Powered by GPT-6 Astra
OpenAI has introduced always-on 'Dots' agents to rival Meta's Muse, alongside a new GPT-6.1 Sol model.

OpenAI has officially launched a new line of autonomous software assistants called "Dots," designed to compete directly with Meta's Muse agent. According to a report by MacRumors, these new assistants are engineered to operate continuously and manage a wide variety of responsibilities.
At the core of the system is the GPT-6 Astra model. Each assistant comes equipped with a cloud-based computing environment and a web browser, matching the core infrastructure of competing products in the market.
Capabilities and Integration
The software is designed to run continuously throughout the day and night. OpenAI notes that the platform integrates with more than 4,000 different applications to handle complex workflows.
Users can interact with the assistants via voice calls, direct text exchanges, or feedback sessions to refine output. Over time, the software adapts to individual habits, thought processes, and standards of quality.
Communication channels include ChatGPT, Slack, and Microsoft Teams, with additional text-based options scheduled for release. Furthermore, the system maintains context when switching between platforms and performs background research on ongoing projects.
Availability and Pricing
Customers can establish a primary assistant and assign it a name immediately, while multi-assistant teams are planned for a future update. The feature is currently reaching Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise subscribers in specific regions, with a broader rollout anticipated later.
Qualifying subscribers receive one assistant at no additional charge. Interactions with the software do not deplete standard ChatGPT usage quotas, though active tasks will draw from existing plan allowances. Initial configuration takes place within the ChatGPT desktop application, and the assistants can subsequently be accessed on mobile devices.
New GPT-6.1 Sol Model
Alongside the assistant launch, the company debuted GPT-6.1 Sol. This updated model brings significant enhancements to professional tasks, computer navigation, and automated software development.
