Samsung raises Galaxy S26 phone prices by up to $200
Samsung has unexpectedly increased the prices of the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra smartphones on its official website.

Samsung has implemented a surprise price increase across its primary smartphone lineup, raising costs by at least $100 for almost every model in the Galaxy S26 series. Engadget reported that the adjustments are now live on the manufacturer's official website, following earlier price bumps when the devices originally launched in March.
The standard Galaxy S26 base model featuring 256GB of storage now starts at $1,000, representing a $200 jump compared to the previous year's equivalent device. Meanwhile, upgrading that same baseline model to 512GB pushes the price tag to $1,200.
Pricing for the larger Galaxy S26+ sits at $1,200 for the 256GB version, while the 512GB variant costs $1,400. The flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra starts at $1,400 for 256GB of storage and moves up to $1,600 for the 512GB option.
The Ultra 1TB model and the sole exception
The highest-end configuration in the family received a steeper adjustment. The 1TB version of the Galaxy S26 Ultra jumped by $200, bringing its total cost to $2,000.
Buyers searching for a device that escaped the hikes will find only one option in the current slab-style smartphone range. The Galaxy S26 FE, which arrived on the market a month ago, avoided the sudden cost increases.
Financial pressures and future models
The decision to raise device prices follows a difficult period for the hardware maker. Despite overall revenue growth, the mobile division recorded its first-ever quarterly loss between April and June, citing climbing expenses for components like RAM and storage.
Conversely, the semiconductor division performed exceptionally well, pushing overall quarterly revenue and operating profit to record highs during the second fiscal period.
Consumers looking to purchase a new handset may face further costs moving forward. Early reports indicate that memory and storage upgrades could become even more expensive when the upcoming S27 lineup arrives.
