Take-Two Interactive has started removing videos and media highlighting unreleased Grand Theft Auto content that recently surfaced online. IGN reports that the publisher of Rockstar Games is targeting clips, images, and audio files tied to the massive data leak from the 2022 security breach.

Last week, a large volume of files connected to Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto 6 became publicly available. While these files had been rumored for a while, they are only now appearing on the internet. Among the leaked materials are cut voice lines suggesting alternative narrative conclusions for Franklin, alongside details for an abandoned Liberty City expansion and an early draft of the GTA 6 map.

Copyright Strikes Face Creators

Because these assets stem from an illegal hack rather than official releases or standard datamining, Take-Two is working to scrub the content from platforms like YouTube. Creators posting visuals or audio clips associated with the leak currently face the risk of receiving copyright strikes. The enforcement does not appear quite as aggressive as the initial GTA 6 leak response, but the publisher is actively issuing takedowns.

Implications for the Launch

With the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 approaching in two months, security measures at Rockstar are expected to reach peak levels. The studio has dealt with repeated breaches over the past four years, and the completed state of the game leaves it vulnerable to spoilers.
