The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is expanding with a new release centered on the Edgerunners television series, according to a report by Kotaku. Developer WeirdCo has titled this upcoming collection Burn Bright, and the cards will arrive on store shelves next spring. Support for multiple languages is planned, with English and French versions scheduled for day one, while a Chinese edition will follow later.
Alongside the character cards, developer WeirdCo plans to introduce fresh gameplay mechanics. Specific details on these rules will be shared in the coming months. Players can also expect foil and textured treatments, alongside a special chase rarity that the studio has not yet shown.
Pre-Release Events and Tournament Play
Fans will get a chance to try out the new materials early. Pre-release tournaments are scheduled to take place one week prior to the official retail debut. These events allow participants to open booster packs and compete against other players ahead of the widespread launch.
WeirdCo co-founder Elliot Cook noted that the high level of community support inspired the team to build a more ambitious second release. The source material offers numerous artistic and mechanical avenues for growth.
Origins of the Card Game
The project originally gained traction through a crowdfunding campaign. By the time the Kickstarter concluded in April, backers had pledged over $28 million. The inaugural set, named Welcome to Night City, arrives in retail stores on November 6 and focuses on characters from the 2077 video game.
As part of the reveal, Kotaku shared the artwork for a specific card named Gloria Martinez: The Future’s Price. The illustration features David, Lucy, and Gloria Martinez.
