Electronic Arts to Close BioWare Amid Wider Company Layoffs

Electronic Arts will close BioWare, ending operations at the role-playing development studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

The decision involves cutting around 50 jobs directly at the studio. Beyond BioWare, the publisher is dismissing an additional 350 workers across other divisions.

Scope of the Job Losses

Altogether, the reduction impacts approximately 3 percent of the entire company, according to a Bloomberg account cited by GameSpot.

That assessment came from a person with knowledge of the publisher's internal changes, detailing the broader scale of the workforce cuts.

Studio Acknowledges the Closure

BioWare verified the news in a public announcement shared to X, formally acknowledging that operations are coming to an end.

In its online statement, the studio extended its thanks to everyone as the shutdown was confirmed.
